Limits & supported formats

ZIP or folder: up to 8 supported images, 40 MiB expanded total. Nested archives and unsupported entries are rejected.

Input: up to 8 files · PNG, JPEG, WebP (static) · 20 MiB each, 40 MiB combined.

Static images: up to 2,048 px per side. Animated inputs are not supported here.

Output: up to 2,048 px per side, 4,194,304 pixels per frame and 400 frames.

Detailed budgets: 40,000,000 decoded pixels, an estimated 192 MiB working allocation and 64 MiB per ZIP. These estimates help reject large jobs; they do not guarantee a browser process memory peak.

How to make a GIF from photos

Choose the photos you want to animate, for example a short sequence from a burst, before-and-after shots or a few slides. Drag the thumbnails into order and give each picture its own display time. Photos with different sizes are fitted to one canvas: Contain with padding keeps the whole picture, Cover and crop fills the frame, and Stretch fills it without keeping proportions. Add a crossfade for smoother changes, choose whether the GIF loops, then make and download it.

Choosing your settings

For a smooth slideshow, use photos with the same orientation and 0.5–2 seconds per picture; for a stop-motion feel, use many similar shots at 100–200 ms. A GIF has at most 256 colors per frame, so detailed photos may show some banding. Keep the canvas modest (for example 480–800 px wide) to keep the file small.

If the result needs another pass

iPhone HEIC photos are not accepted directly; convert them to JPG first with the Image Converter. If the GIF is too large to share, reduce the canvas size or the number of photos, or run it through the GIF compressor afterwards.

Good to know

How many photos can I turn into one GIF?

Up to 8 pictures per GIF, each up to 20 MiB. Each picture can have its own display time.

Which image formats work?

JPG, PNG and static WebP. Convert HEIC or AVIF photos with the Image Converter first. Animated images are not used here; use Combine GIFs or WebP to GIF instead.

What happens if my photos are different sizes?

They are placed on one canvas: Contain with padding keeps each whole picture, Cover and crop fills by cropping, and Stretch fills without keeping proportions.

How do I make the GIF smaller?

Use a smaller canvas, fewer photos or shorter crossfades, then compress the result with the GIF compressor if needed.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your photos are processed in your browser and are never uploaded.
