Frame a profile picture for a small display

Your Discord PFP is the avatar beside your messages and on your profile. It needs a recognizable subject when shown small. This page opens the Discord avatar preset: 256×256 with a suggested 1MB target. These are GIFBloom preparation choices; the cited Discord profile guide does not state a global avatar dimension or file-size limit. Static images become PNG and animated GIFs stay animated.

Choosing your settings

Crop around the face or symbol, leaving a little room around the edges for Discord’s profile preview. Padding retains the full source when it is already composed tightly. The byte target is editable, and animated avatars require Nitro. Check the avatar at its actual display size before choosing a more detailed version.

If the result needs another pass

If a face is clipped, move the square or add padding. If a GIF misses your chosen target, shorten it or allow fewer frames; lowering colors can change gradients. A banner occupies the wide profile header, while a sticker is a separate server expression: use their dedicated pages instead of the avatar preset.

GIF timing note: missing, 0 ms and 10 ms frame delays are read as 100 ms. Other supported delays are retained unless the task changes timing or the frame sequence. Re-encoded animation may therefore differ from a viewer that handles unusually short delays differently.

Good to know

What is the Discord PFP size here?

The preset makes a 256×256 square. That is our suggestion, not a verified official upload requirement.

Can I resize an animated PFP?

Yes, GIF input exports as GIF. Discord requires Nitro for animated avatars.

Is the 1MB target mandatory?

No. Change it to suit your use. The cited global profile guide does not specify a common avatar byte limit.

Can I use a normal photo?

Yes. PNG, JPG and WebP still images export as PNG locally, without uploading the source.
