Limits & supported formats

ZIP or folder: up to 8 supported images, 40 MiB expanded total. Nested archives and unsupported entries are rejected.

Input: up to 8 files · GIF · 20 MiB each, 40 MiB combined.

Images: up to 2,048 px per side and 400 animation frames.

Output: up to 2,048 px per side, 4,194,304 pixels per frame and 400 frames.

Detailed budgets: 40,000,000 decoded pixels, an estimated 192 MiB working allocation and 64 MiB per ZIP. These estimates help reject large jobs; they do not guarantee a browser process memory peak.

Files are processed one at a time with shared settings. A failed file does not stop the others.

How to work toward a 256KB GIF

01Add an animated GIF

02Inspect the preset target and optional reductions

03Compress, check the result and download

GIFBloom

A small budget for icons and compact chat graphics

Use 256KB for small logos, pixel art and short reactions. Reducing the palette often helps flat art, while gradients may band. A byte target does not crop or resize a GIF for a platform.

Choosing your settings

Keep outlines readable before preserving every shade. Try a shorter clip or smaller canvas; allow dimension reduction only if you can accept it. Motion can matter more than a smooth gradient in a tiny icon.

If the result needs another pass

If the best result is still too large, use Resize to set a smaller square or Reduce GIF Frames to lower the frame count, then compress again. For Discord emoji, use the platform adapter to apply its recommended dimensions and safety margin.

GIF timing note: missing, 0 ms and 10 ms frame delays are read as 100 ms. Other supported delays are retained unless the task changes timing or the frame sequence. Re-encoded animation may therefore differ from a viewer that handles unusually short delays differently.

Good to know

Can I change the preset target?

Yes. The prefilled target is editable; KB means 1,000 bytes and MB means 1,000,000 bytes. KiB and MiB are also available.

Is the target guaranteed?

No. The result reports whether it meets your target. If it does not, use the next steps in the guide; the download is not presented as a success at that size.

Are files uploaded?

No. Processing happens in your browser.
