LESS WEIGHT. MORE MOVEMENT.

GIF compressor

Keep the motion. Lose the weight.

Compress GIFs locally with fewer colors or a target file size. Process a batch, compare the actual results, and download GIFs or a ZIP.

Limits & supported formats

ZIP or folder: up to 8 supported images, 40 MiB expanded total. Nested archives and unsupported entries are rejected.

Input: up to 8 files · GIF · 20 MiB each, 40 MiB combined.

Images: up to 2,048 px per side and 400 animation frames.

Output: up to 2,048 px per side, 4,194,304 pixels per frame and 400 frames.

Detailed budgets: 40,000,000 decoded pixels, an estimated 192 MiB working allocation and 64 MiB per ZIP. These estimates help reject large jobs; they do not guarantee a browser process memory peak.

Files are processed one at a time with shared settings. A failed file does not stop the others.

GIFBloom

Make room for your next GIF

A smaller color palette can reduce the size of an animated GIF. GIFBloom rebuilds the animation and combines identical consecutive frames without shortening their total duration. Results depend on your source: an already optimized GIF may get larger.

Choosing your settings

Start with 128 colors, or enter a size target. Allow smaller dimensions or fewer frames only if you can accept those changes. Palette reduction can change gradients; there is no guaranteed size reduction.

If the result needs another pass

If the result grows or misses your target, keep the original, try a lower palette, or resize and trim the animation first.

GIF timing note: missing, 0 ms and 10 ms frame delays are read as 100 ms. Other supported delays are retained unless the task changes timing or the frame sequence. Re-encoded animation may therefore differ from a viewer that handles unusually short delays differently.

Good to know

Is GIF compression lossless?

Re-encoding can change colors, even at the largest palette setting. A smaller palette is explicitly lossy. Compare both previews before downloading.

Will my animation keep playing?

Frame timing, transparency and the original loop setting are preserved. Missing delays and delays below 20 ms are normalized to 100 ms for consistent playback.

What if the result is bigger?

Some GIFs are already efficiently optimized. GIFBloom shows the real size difference and keeps the original available to download.

Can I set a target size?

Yes, in KiB or MiB. The search tries at most eight settings over 30 seconds per file. Dimensions and frame rate change only if allowed. If the target cannot be reached, the smallest completed result is labeled clearly.

Can I process multiple GIFs?

Up to eight files are processed sequentially. A failed file does not stop the rest. Download each completed GIF or one ZIP of the results.
