Clear a simple background
Remove a flat color from logos, pixel art or simple animations. Select Source in the frame preview, click the background color and start with a low tolerance. Increase tolerance gradually to remove similar shades. This is color matching, not AI subject removal.
Choosing your settings
A low tolerance protects similar foreground colors. Matching pixels anywhere in the frame become transparent, including inside the subject. GIF edges remain either opaque or transparent; soft feathering is unavailable.
If the result needs another pass
If parts of the subject disappear, reduce tolerance or choose a more distinct background color. Photographic or patterned backgrounds need a different kind of editor.
GIF timing note: missing, 0 ms and 10 ms frame delays are read as 100 ms. Other supported delays are retained unless the task changes timing or the frame sequence. Re-encoded animation may therefore differ from a viewer that handles unusually short delays differently.
Good to know
What does tolerance do?
A higher value removes colors further from the selected RGB color. Matching foreground pixels will also become transparent.
Can it isolate a person from a photograph?
No. This tool does not understand subjects. Use it for simple backgrounds and inspect the result before downloading.
