Limits & supported formats

Input: 1 file · GIF · up to 20 MiB.

Images: up to 2,048 px per side and 400 animation frames.

Output: up to 2,048 px per side, 4,194,304 pixels per frame and 400 frames.

Detailed budgets: 40,000,000 decoded pixels, an estimated 192 MiB working allocation and 64 MiB per ZIP. These estimates help reject large jobs; they do not guarantee a browser process memory peak.

Keep the part that matters

Remove empty borders or focus an animation on one subject. Drag a rectangle on the frame preview or enter pixel dimensions. Choose Square, Landscape or Portrait for a fixed shape; the same area is cropped from every frame.

Choosing your settings

Fixed ratios stay exact when you edit dimensions or drag. Coordinates are constrained to the source. Very small images that cannot fit one ratio unit switch to Free. Cropping removes pixels outside the rectangle; re-encoding may alter colors.

If the result needs another pass

Inspect several frames for a moving subject near the edge. If it gets cut off, widen the rectangle or move it before exporting. Use Resize afterward when a destination needs specific dimensions.

GIF timing note: missing, 0 ms and 10 ms frame delays are read as 100 ms. Other supported delays are retained unless the task changes timing or the frame sequence. Re-encoded animation may therefore differ from a viewer that handles unusually short delays differently.

Good to know

How are coordinates measured?

X and Y start at the top-left corner. Width and height are whole pixels. The entire rectangle must stay inside the original canvas.

Does cropping keep animation?

Yes. The selected area is kept in every frame, with transparency and looping. Very short or missing GIF delays are normalized as described below.
