Twitch emote resizer
Resize a PNG or animated GIF into the 28, 56 and 112 px square sizes Twitch asks for in manual upload, or one 112 px file for auto-resize. Crop or pad to a square, check bytes and frames, download a ZIP.

Twitch emote sizes, formats and limits
Twitch emotes must be square. For manual upload you need three files: 28×28, 56×56 and 112×112 px. Static emotes are PNG and cannot exceed 1MB. Animated emotes are GIF, up to 60 frames, and each manual-upload file cannot exceed 512KB. Auto-resize takes one square image between 112 and 4096 px instead (animated: up to 1MB). This page prepares the manual set by default: a still picture becomes three PNGs and an animated GIF becomes three GIFs, all in one ZIP.
Choosing your settings
Draw at a large size and let the resizer shrink it; 28 px is tiny, so thick outlines and one clear shape survive best. Use Crop a square when the subject is centered, or Keep image with transparent padding when the edges matter. For pixel-art emotes switch sampling to nearest-neighbor so edges stay sharp.
If the result needs another pass
If an animated size is over budget, enable frame reduction (total duration is kept), trim the GIF first or simplify colors. If more than 60 frames are reported, reduce frames before resizing. The size check covers dimensions, bytes and frame count only; Twitch still reviews content and may reject emotes for other reasons.
GIF timing note: missing, 0 ms and 10 ms frame delays are read as 100 ms. Other supported delays are retained unless the task changes timing or the frame sequence. Re-encoded animation may therefore differ from a viewer that handles unusually short delays differently.
Good to know
What sizes does Twitch need for emotes?
Manual upload needs 28×28, 56×56 and 112×112 px. Auto-resize needs one square image from 112 to 4096 px. Images must be square.
What file format should a Twitch emote be?
Static emotes are PNG, animated emotes are GIF. Still images you add here are exported as PNG; animated GIFs stay GIF.
How big can a Twitch emote file be?
Static: up to 1MB. Animated auto-resize: up to 1MB. Animated manual upload: up to 512KB per size. Animated emotes are limited to 60 frames.
Can I resize sub badges here too?
Badges use different sizes (18, 36 and 72 px, 25KB). Use the Twitch badge resizer page, which runs the same adapter with the badge preset.
Are my emotes uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser and files never leave your device.
